Man, the buildup for Strafe was something else. It's one of the most in-depth marketing campaigns I've seen for an indie game - probably owing to Devolver's deep pockets.
Unfortunately, not a lot of people liked the game, at least on release. I enjoyed it a lot, though. It feels a bit like Serious Sam, but much more close-quarters - and Sam is one of the best FPS of all time, so that's a pretty good accolade. Its gameplay does get a little old after a while - but that happens with most games, don't it.
One thing I will say is that the map sucks. It's just a big pixelly block of nothing. They evidently didn't learn from Doom for that one.
