Alone in the Dark

Alone in the Dark

The first time I played Alone in the Dark, I laughed at it. The shareware version doesn't do a great job at demonstrating the game, and...well...sometimes a game is just dated.

That said, the second time I played Alone in the Dark, I got really into it.

What can I say, I like a bit of horror - as long as it's not just an excuse to throw blood and gore everywhere. And this game has none at all, from what I can tell. It's just scary. The sharp visuals and discordant music go a long way to giving the game a real atmosphere of dread and terror, and as you progress through the house, it just gets worse and worse. (Which, in a horror game, is surely a good thing!)

Next time I play, I'm going to turn the lights off, and crank my headphones up. The way horror games should be played, so I hear.
